Greetings from the desert, where summer has officially arrived! Tom and I recently returned from a busy, but really special trip to Nashville and Indianapolis. Tom spent two days in the studio working on a choral recording project he is helping to produce, and we also enjoyed some time with his brother, who lives in Nashville.

From there, we made a quick trip to Indianapolis for the Indy 500, where our nephew joined us for race day. Tom and I are longtime IndyCar fans, so being there in person was amazing. Even with the rainy weather, the race was incredible, and the feel and sound of those cars flying by at 240 mph is something you simply have to experience in person. Wow!

As exciting as the race was, what stayed with me most were the pre-race ceremonies honoring our veterans. Hundreds of veterans and their families were paraded around the track as the entire crowd stood to recognize their service and sacrifice. Hearing “Taps” played while 350,000 people stood in complete silence gave me chills. It is something we will never forget.
