At Solis Wealth Management, we take the security of your accounts seriously. One of the important ways we help reduce fraud risk is by verbally confirming certain client instructions before we act on them.
Email, voicemail, and text can be convenient ways to communicate, but they can also be used by fraudsters who attempt to impersonate clients, family members, or even members of a financial team. Because of this, certain requests require a verbal confirmation before they can be processed.
This may include requests such as:
- Money movement or distribution requests
- Trade instructions
- Requests to add or change ACH or bank instructions
- Account maintenance requests involving sensitive information
Even if the request comes from an email address we recognize, we may still need to speak with you directly before proceeding.
Why This Matters
Fraud attempts are becoming more sophisticated. Sometimes the warning signs are obvious, but other times they are subtle. Examples may include:
- A request that feels unusually urgent
- A message saying the client is unavailable by phone
- Instructions that seem different from prior conversations
- A slightly altered email address
- Unusual wording, tone, or timing
- Requests to communicate only by email
- A request involving new banking instructions or a change in destination for funds
If something seems unusual, our team may pause the request and contact you using a phone number already on file. This extra step is intentional and is designed to help confirm that the request is truly coming from you.
What You Can Expect From Us
When we receive certain instructions electronically, we may respond to let you know that we need verbal confirmation before moving forward. From there, a member of our team will call you, or you may call our office directly.
Please know that if we are not able to verbally confirm the request, we may need to wait
before processing it.
We understand this can occasionally feel like an extra step, but it is an important part of helping safeguard your accounts and ensuring that your instructions are handled carefully.
As always, we appreciate your understanding and partnership. If you ever receive a message that seems suspicious or are unsure whether something came from our office, please call us directly before responding or clicking any links.
Thank you!
