I often think of all of you and hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to share a brief update on our family since my last note in April. The kids went on a cruise to Mexico with their aunt and had a blast over spring break. Then, we enjoyed a wonderful week vacation in Waikiki, Hawaii with our framily. I absolutely love the beaches in Hawaii; I honestly find it difficult to swim in San Diego anymore. We also had a short getaway to Big Bear for the 4th of July and are planning some day trips to escape the heat. Watching the fireworks outdoors in the cool weather was amazing. It’s the one holiday where I deeply miss being in my hometown in Michigan. I have so many fond memories of watching fireworks over the lake on the 4th after spending all day outside, something we just can’t do here in the summers. And very exciting news – Avery turned 16 and got her driver’s license, which has been a huge milestone for her. We’re really excited to have her help with some of the family errands now too. 😉

Chris and I are doing well. We just celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary – it’s crazy to me how fast that time flew by. This summer has been a bit more challenging for Chris since he works outside; the heat can be suffocating at times. I’m praying we’ll get a little break soon.

The kids are gearing up for 8th and 11th grade. Trav starts football practice this week for his first year of tackle football, moving on from flag football in the fall. Avery is starting to plan for what she wants to do after high school and is really praying for direction and clarity. She says she ideally wants to end up somewhere with four real seasons.

On a more somber note, we were deeply troubled by the recent attempted assassination of President Trump. My heart breaks for our country, and I am continually praying for healing and unity. One of the most remarkable things I remember after 9/11 was how our nation came together, setting aside politics for a common goal. I hope we can find that spirit of unity again and stand together in prayer for our nation.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” – Matthew 5:9

As always, please remember, we are here for you. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything. Have a wonderful rest of your summer!
